Philadelphia (12): Florilège et Cheese Steack

One of the two murals I actually managed to see...

Very 1960s diner recommanded by the Gudie du Routard became our cantine for big breakfasts that allow you to skip lunch and do more visits. Go to Mrs. K. people. There is just nothing better than bacon and pancakes.

"Booted", a local variation on Boston's "towed".

It was 4pm, we were STARVING. Seemed as good a time as any other to actually try the Philadelphia Cheesesteack. The foodtruck one we had on our last day was actually way better, but this one was still nice... and served in a warm place.

"Old City fries" were a curious and gooey mix.

To Do List:

City Hall.

According to the Guide du Routard, the interior of the big Masonic Temple is so kitchissime that it's actually worth visiting, just for their exotic interpretation of pharao Egypt and such. It was Sunday, so we didn't get too, but the exterior was interesting in itself. Gothic cathedral-style with middle-eastern motives meets palaces of the world, anyone?

Not sure how they did it with their giant bricks but this church looked super fake. It looked like a 3D hologram from Shrek, not even joking. The nickname "Shreck Church" will definitely stay!

There is one real person in this picture, can you find her?

Philadelphia (PA) (9): Night at the Museum

This most famous French king suddenly poppedout. I'm pretty sure this particular portrait of  François Ier was in my 4th-5th grade History textbook.. 1515, folks?

MARIGNAN! (Bonus point if you still remember who was actually fighting in this battle. Hint hint,it has to do with the Alps.)

The PMA had many early portraits of African-American and/or Black people, something I have rarely seen so far and which I found particularly interesting.
